So recently I have been thinking of what I am going to be for Halloween, and I have come t o the conclusion that I am going to be a peacock. In coming up how to create a cute costume for this idea, I thought I would start with a strapless sweetheart blue dress. Of course it is always hard to find the perfect dress, so I made it. I found my supplies at Joann fabrics, and Beverly’s in Visalia. I thought I would wear the dress with some black tights and some black heels.
Now that I had a beginning of a “going out outfit”, I needed the peacock part of it. A friend of mine came up to wear a belt, and to attach peacock feather to the back of it. So I had a big black belt that I sewed peacock feathers to just the part of the belt that would be behind me. The feathers are shorter on the outside and get longer going inward. This would create the peacock tail feathers being fanned up effect. The same friend provided me with a plethora of peacock feathers, but you can find them at any craft store or online. (Michaels, Joann Fabrics, ect). I found a really cute peacock feather hair band at Urban Outfitters on sale for ten dollars that I thought it would add to the peacock effect.
I thought I would share some other cute costume ideas that I was thinking of. If you were trying to come up with a group costume theme, the members of Clue would be a great idea. If a single costume a classy, vintage, 1930’s costume can be found at the Antique store in Hanford, downtown right across the street from the museum.
I could list different costume ideas, but the best costume for you comes from what your interests are. I like artsy, classy things, so my ideas would appeal to that group of people. I encourage you all to make your own costumes. Thrift stores and 2nd hand stores provides a variety of different fabrics, and clothing. Check them out and see what you can come up with.
